Standard I
Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and Creativity
Using this standard, the teacher acts as a facilitator in the learning process, exploring ways to creatively solve real-world problems alongside the students. The teacher promotes collaboration in this process and teaches students the value of reflecting on what they have learned. By reflecting, the student can truly appreciate growth in learning. The artifacts that I have selected show how I have learned to create such an environment for my students.
In my ELA Course Site, I created a "flipped" classroom for an English language arts class. The site provides a new way of interacting with students outside the classroom. It prepares them for future e-learning by introducing numerous digital tools and giving them a chance to use them in a very structured environment. This artifact is an example of modeling innovative thinking and engaging students in solving authentic problems using digital tools.
The Google Slide presentation shows a way that students could collaborate on a group project at a distance. This presentation was part of a collaborative project for IT 645 where I played the role of teacher and my colleagues acted as students. I created the layout for the presentation and the "students" added content to create a group project. This artifact models collaborative knowledge construction using a virtual environment which is part of this standard.
The Google Doc paper shows a collaborative effort between my colleagues and me. Together we worked to create a explanation of various collaboration tools in Blackboard, and we did so by collaborating at a distance. Each member contributed a section to the paper and added their part to the Google Doc. This artifact shows how I meet the collaboration and innovative problem solving aspects of this standard.
Finally, my blogfolio shows how I have reflected on my own learning. This experience will assist me in showing my students how reflection can help them appreciate their own growth. With the blogfolio, I reflected on my own projects and reading assignments, commented on the blogs of my peers, and responded to their comments as well. This is a way I reflected as a learner and can model collaboration for my own students, this shows my proficiency in meeting the reflection component of this standard.

Future Learning Goals
In the future, I plan to continue growing in the skills of this standard. One part that I know I will never stop using is reflection. I have created my own blog to share helpful tips with other educators, so in a way, my goal is to continue with what I started here. I intend to keep track of learning trends, especially e-learning, in order to continue to provide an environment for my students which facilitates creativity and learning. One way I plan to accomplish this is by joining online communities where those types of discussions are taking place. Recently, I joined two online communities, Elementary Librarian, and Follett Library Community, for this purpose.
